Jonathan Pitts-Wiley

Artistic Director

A Rhode Island native, Jonathan Pitts-Wiley is a multi-disciplinary artist with a focus in the performing arts and photography. Since 2010, he has been the Artistic Director at Mixed Magic Theatre and has overseen numerous productions and special events at the company. These works include productions such as A Kwanzaa Song,  For Colored Girls, Fate Comes Knocking, God of Carnage, When Mahalia Sings, Shakespeare in the Spirit, Wayfound, the performance series RIse to Black, the concert series The Greatness of Gospel, and annual staged readings of Martin Luther King’s Letter from Birmingham City Jail and Beyond Vietnam. 

Jonathan’s directing credits at Mixed Magic include: Dutchman, Fences, Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train, The Spirit Warrior’s Dream,  When Mahalia Sings, and The Tempest. Directing credits outside of Mixed Magic include: A Raisin in the Sun (Barker Playhouse), House Arrest (Epic Theatre), The Motherf*cker with The Hat (Epic Theatre), and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Community College of Rhode Island).

Jonathan is married to Mixed Magic’s Music Director, Kim Morrison Pitts-Wiley. The couple has two children.
