“I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states…Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.”
– Martin Luther King Jr.
Serving our community through the stories that we tell is a labor of love, but a labor nonetheless. At Mixed Magic Theatre, we believe that artists and those who bring art to life are civil servants who embrace the essential responsibility of being keepers of memory and the holders of mirrors. Whether vocation or avocation, the arts are some of the most important threads that tie together the single garment of destiny of which Dr. King so eloquently spoke. It’s true: we are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality. The path ahead must be forged together; we must all lend our hands and hearts and courage to the vital work of building a better future through the stories that we tell. We must remain steadfast and be ever encouraged by the Power of We.
